How do I register for the Give thanks. Walk.?
Pick your city. Then click "Register". You will then be prompted to create a user name and password and to fill out a simple registration form and participation waiver. Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from St. Jude.
Is there a registration fee to sign up a team or to walk?
No. There is no fee to form a team or to walk in the Give thanks. Walk.
How do I form a team?
During the registration process, you will be given the option to “Start a Team.” By selecting that option, you will be able to create a team name, team goal and optional team password. After you complete the registration process, you will be able to create a team page and recruit others to join your team.
How do I join a team?
During the registration process, you will be given the option to “Join a Team.” By selecting that option, you will be prompted to enter the team name and password (if required). Please keep in mind that to join a team, the team must already exist. You can also join a team after you register by editing your online profile.
My friend has created a team, but I don't know the name. How can I find it?
Select
Sponsor a Friend. From this search page, you will be able to search for your friend by first and/or last name. The search results will include the participant’s name and team name. To join his team, enter that team name during the registration process.
Do I have to register online?
No. You can also register by mail. To do so, please click the
city of your choice to visit your local walk’s home page. Once on your local walk home page, you will see contact information for a local St. Jude representative who can mail you a paper registration form.
How do I customize my web page online?
During the registration process, you will be asked to create a user name and password. To log in, click the secure “Participant Login” link at the top right-hand side of the page and enter your user name and password. Once you have logged in to the Participant Center, select the My Page tab.
On this page, you will be able to select from different page templates and St. Jude patient images, upload your personal photos and customize your personal message.
How do I fundraise online or recruit more participants?
During the registration process, you will be asked to create a user name and password. To log in, click the secure “Participant Login” link at the top right-hand side of the page and enter your user name and password. Once you have logged in to the Participant Center, select the My Addresses tab.
On this page, you will be able to add or upload your e-mail contacts. Once you have added and imported your contacts successfully, you can select all supporters by clicking on the “Select All” option. Once you have selected your supporters, click the “Add Recipients” button and the recipients will be entered into the “Send to e-mail” field of the “Compose e-mail” form to the right.
To start fundraising, select “Donation Ask” from the “Action” drop-down menu. This will bring up a pre-written e-mail with instructions on how to make a donation. Please customize this message with own story and share with your friends and family why you are asking them to donate to St. Jude.
To recruit more participants, select “Recruitment” from the “Action” drop-down menu. This will bring up a pre-written e-mail with instructions on how to register and join a team. Please customize this message to encourage your friends and family to join your team and make sure to include your team name.
I would like to sponsor a friend, but prefer to make a donation by check. How can I mail in a donation?
Select
Sponsor a Friend. From this search page, you will be able to search for your friend by first and/or last name as well as team name. In the search results, click on your friend’s name to visit his personal web page. Once on his web page, click the “Donate Now” button on the right-hand side. Once on the donation form, you can select “Print this Form” from the right-hand column, which will bring up a form, unique to the friend you are sponsoring. Please print and submit this completed form, along with your donation, to the address listed on the form.
Is there a fundraising minimum that each team or participant must raise?
There is no fundraising minimum; however, all participants will be able to earn incentives based upon their fundraising level. We encourage teams and individuals to set their own fundraising goals and raise as much as possible through their personal and social networks.
Are there incentives for walkers who raise money for the Give thanks. Walk.?
Raising money for the children of St. Jude is a vital part of the Give thanks. Walk. As a small thank you for the extra effort, all participants will be eligible to receive prizes based on their fundraising level.
- Participants raising $35 will receive an official Give thanks. Walk. 2009 T-shirt.
- Participants raising $100 will receive the T-shirt and a Give thanks. Walk. water bottle.
- Participants raising $250 or more will receive the T-shirt, water bottle and a Give thanks. Walk. insulated tote bag.
Are there any tips on how to raise money for the Give thanks. Walk.?
Below is a day-by-day list of ideas to help you raise money for the Give thanks. Walk. These tips will help you raise $250 in seven days.
Day 1: Show your commitment and contribute to yourself. ($25)
Day 2: Ask your spouse/friend/parents to match your donation. ($25)
Day 3: Send your Web page link to your co-workers and ask them to donate. ($50)
Day 4: Ask your two best friends for $25 each. ($50)
Day 5: Ask everyone in a club or organization to donate $5 each. ($25)
Day 6: E-mail your holiday card mailing list to invite friends to visit your Web page. ($50)
Day 7: Ask your hairstylist/barber/dentist/doctor to donate. ($25)

Are donations to the Give thanks. Walk. tax-deductible? Will I receive a receipt?
Yes, all donations to the Give thanks. Walk. are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. All donors will receive a donation acknowledgement letter in the mail for tax purposes. All donors who donate online will also receive an e-mail confirmation of their gift.
I have already registered, but I have misplaced my password. How can I retrieve it?
There is a password retrieval link on the
Participant Login page. This will prompt you to enter your e-mail address and your password will be e-mailed to you.
One of my friends told me they donated to my fundraising team, but the donation is not showing up on my scrolling list of donations. How can I find it?
We are happy to look into this for you. Please
contact us with the name of the person who donated and the amount of their gift. It is likely that their gift was attributed to the wrong person or team and this is an easy fix.
