ewing sarcoma
Arianna’s mother had no idea her daughter was so sick because the tumor was growing in the cradle of the little girl’s pelvic bones. It wasn’t until Arianna’s leg twisted sideways that her mother knew something terrible was wrong. On Dec. 15, doctors determined that Arianna suffered from Ewing sarcoma, a small, round-cell tumor that arises either in bone or soft tissues. Her family was devastated. Soon, their local doctor referred the family to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for Arianna’s treatment and care.
At St. Jude, Arianna has received chemotherapy to shrink the tumor. She and her mother live at Target House, a facility that St. Jude offers free of charge to its families receiving long-term treatment. They also receive a grocery card to help offset the cost of their meals.
Arianna’s condition can be very painful, but the sweet-natured girl keeps a smile on her face. She’s made lots of friends. Arianna’s strength helps her mother stay strong.
Arianna loves Strawberry Shortcake and Dora the Explorer. She adores her big sister back home in Indiana and looks forward to her sister’s visits to the hospital.
