One sunny afternoon, little Lain started to have pains in his belly. For the next several months, Lain was treated for an upset stomach, until he began experiencing more troubling symptoms. He started to lose his balance when walking. Unfortunately, a CT scan revealed the devastating news that Lain suffered from an aggressive carcinoma.
Immediately, his parents took him to local specialists to remove the tumor that threatened the little boy’s life. After the surgery, Lain was given a dire prognosis. His parents were told Lain might only have weeks to live. Desperate and knowing that time was running out, his father remembered seeing information about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® on the Internet and TV. Mr. Torres told the doctors about St. Jude, and they immediately referred Lain to the hospital.
At St. Jude, Lain has received chemotherapy and radiation in a loving environment where all the family’s needs are provided, including food and shelter. His family is very grateful for the care that they’ve received here. “St. Jude has given me hope to see my child grow,” said Lain’s father.
